How to plant pepper seeds and germinate them fastest

1. Seed treatment

The seed coat of Sichuan pepper is hard and oily, making it impermeable to water, making it difficult for it to germinate. Therefore, the seeds should be soaked in alkaline water before sowing. Then the empty, damaged and rotten seeds should be picked out and soaked in alkaline water for two days. The seeds should be rubbed repeatedly to clean the oil on the seed coat. Then they should be taken out and cleaned with clean water in preparation for sowing.

2. Sowing

Choose fertile sandy soil with plenty of sunlight, sheltered from the wind, facing the sun, and good drainage. Before sowing, the land should be tilled and deep plowed, and well-rotted organic fertilizer should be added. Prepare ridges that are 6 to 10 meters long and 1 to 1.2 meters wide. Dig planting furrows that are 1 cm deep and 9 cm wide, sow the seeds, and then cover them with about 1 cm of soil. Water them, and cover the bed with straw mats to keep them moist.
