If you cut the bougainvillea a few times, it will bloom three times a year, and each one will be a big flower ball!

Xia Ju shaved her head and it grew into a big flower ball in 3 months

Take the famous summer chrysanthemum as an example. It can bloom from May to November and has a super long flowering period. If you want it to grow into a big flower ball, the secret lies in pruning.

Generally, pruning is done three times a year, and heavy pruning is required after two flowering periods. Like the Mingliu Qianqiu plant in the picture, it is shaved after the flowers fade in summer, leaving only branches of about 10 cm.

You can imagine that it can grow back in half a month, and its leaves will cover the flowerpot, as if you have already foreseen what it will look like when it blooms.

In 3 months, we will be able to usher in its second flowering period. In October, there will be another big flower ball. When the light weakens and the weather turns cooler, the white chrysanthemums will turn into pink.

After the second flowering, we will do another heavy pruning, repeating the operation after the flowering in summer. When the spring warms up, we will do light pruning and topping to promote branching before the plant grows flower buds, so that it can grow into large flower balls in summer.

Pruning bougainvillea promotes growth without losing leaves

Bougainvillea is now in full bloom. After enjoying the flowers, we need to prune the plants according to their condition.

Some overly dense inner branches, withered and weak branches, and overgrown branches must be pruned away, otherwise light will not be able to enter, which will easily cause a large number of leaves to fall off.

The branches we retain can also be cut off at the top at 30cm, and the side branches of the plant can be shortened to promote the growth of more new branches.

If it is an older bougainvillea, we can prune it appropriately, retaining the bottom 2 to 3 buds on each main branch and pruning all other branches to promote plant renewal and rejuvenation.

After pruning petunias, they will become balls in one month

If you want the petunia to grow out of the pot, the most important thing is to prune, pinch the top, promote branching, and control its growth direction.

When pruning, pay attention to controlling its shape to ensure that it can be pruned into a spherical shape, leaving 4 to 5 leaves on each branch.

After pruning, the plant is in the growth stage. Pay attention to frequently rotating the pot to allow the petunia to fully receive light, otherwise it is easy to have a partial crown or Mediterranean phenomenon.

Catharanthus roseus tops the tree, buds appear

Seeing the vinca roseus grown into big flower balls at other people's homes, I planted one in a pot myself. As a result, it grew taller and taller. I counted four or five branches and found less than 10 flowers in bloom.

The secret to growing vinca bulbs lies in topping them. When pruning, the ball shape should be maintained and attention should be paid to making them round and even. For branches that are too high, only 2 to 4 leaves should be left.

If you want the plant to be compact, you have to prune it heavily, especially those branches that are so long and tall that they are about to fall over. Don't feel sorry for it. If you prune too lightly at the beginning, the plant will become untidy in the end!

<<:  After the "orchid" blooms, take a pair of scissors and cut it, and the lush buds will grow faster!

>>:  Don’t throw away the old loofah. Put it at the bottom of the pot and the flowers will not rot for 10 years!
