How to propagate leeks

The most common method of propagation of leek is sowing propagation, and another method is division propagation. Its seeds can also be propagated, and its natural reproduction method is also seed propagation. Generally speaking, leek division propagation is the fastest.

The breeding time of leek

It is generally more appropriate to breed leek orchids in spring every year, because this is the period of vigorous growth of plants. The survival rate of breeding at this time is high, and the plants grow rapidly after survival.

How to propagate leek

Propagation of leek by division

Remove all the small bulbs that branch out from the bulb of leek, and remove the excess leaves on the bulb, leaving only 2-3 leaves, cut off the excess roots, leaving 3-4 old roots and cutting off the rest. The planting depth should be such that 1/3 of the soil is exposed in the pot.

Sowing and propagation of chives

It is generally more suitable to sow chives in spring. The seeds must be healthy and full. The soil for sowing can be well-drained sandy soil. After the seeds and soil are prepared, sow the seeds directly into the soil.

After sowing, cover the surface of the seeds with a thin layer of soil, then water them to keep them moist. Then put the seedling tray in a cool place for maintenance. Generally, the seeds will germinate in about a week.

Precautions for breeding of chives

When propagating leek orchid by division, just dig out the bulb of leek orchid, and be careful not to injure the bulb. If there are many leaves and flower stems on the bulb, you need to cut off the upper leaves and keep 6-8 cm of leaves. After planting, water it appropriately and maintain a certain humidity, and it will be very easy to survive.
