How to propagate money grass and precautions

How to propagate money grass

There are two common ways to propagate Moneywort: sowing and cuttings. Its seeds can be propagated, and its natural way of reproducing offspring is through seed propagation. Generally speaking, Moneywort is propagated fastest by cuttings.

The breeding time of money grass

If Moneywort is to be propagated by cuttings, it is generally more appropriate to choose spring and autumn. The temperature in these two seasons is moderate and the precipitation is appropriate. Cuttings at this time can make the plant survival rate higher.

How to propagate money grass

Propagation of Moneywort by Cuttings

Choose a well-growing money plant, cut off strong and pest-free branches, each section should have 3-4 stem nodes, keep the leaves on the top, the substrate can be a mixture of vermiculite, peat soil, and perlite, insert the cuttings into the substrate, the depth is about 3 cm, no need to insert too deep, water thoroughly, and place in a semi-shaded environment.

Sowing and propagation of money grass

Before sowing the seeds of Moneywort, they need to be soaked in 40-degree warm water for 24 hours. After being taken out and dried, they can be sown on the seedbed and covered with a 1-cm-thick layer of fine soil. The seeds will begin to germinate after about 7 days, and they can be transplanted when the seedlings grow to 15 meters.

Precautions for the propagation of money grass

Since the seeds of Moneywort are very small and generally not easy to collect, the method of sowing propagation is not recommended. In addition, after the cuttings are successful, if you want the plant to grow better, you must replenish it with water in time, especially in summer, to ensure that the soil does not become particularly dry.
