What are the cultivation methods and precautions of money tree

How to grow money tree

Money tree is a perennial evergreen herb of the Portulacaceae family. It is usually propagated by seeds or cuttings. It is relatively simple to cultivate and is suitable for novices.

Money tree likes warm, slightly dry, semi-shady environment with small annual temperature changes. It is relatively drought-resistant, not cold-resistant, afraid of strong sunlight, and not tolerant of waterlogging. It is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained, organic-rich acidic to slightly acidic soil.

Money tree should be cultivated in a temperature environment of 20-32℃ to ensure that the temperature is suitable for the growth of money tree. Money tree can grow very vigorously under bright, sufficient direct light or scattered light with moderate light intensity.

Watering method

Do not water the money tree too much at normal times, and ensure that the soil in the pot is dry but moist. Reduce the amount of watering in autumn and winter, and if you need to irrigate it in cold winter weather, you need to add water at the same level as room temperature.

Fertilization method

During the peak growth period of the money tree, you can apply thin fertilizers frequently and add a little compound fertilizer or foliar fertilizer. If the growth activity of the money tree is relatively poor and yellowing and withering leaves appear, you should promptly add fertilizers such as ferrous sulfate to alleviate the problem.

Pruning methods

The height of the money tree can be controlled by pinching the top to keep the plant shape neat. Remove the old leaves of the money tree and let it sprout new leaves. When pruning, we should cut off all bad branches, overlapping branches, and inward-growing branches.

Money tree cultivation precautions

Strong light in summer needs proper shading. Although the money tree has a certain tolerance to shade, it cannot be placed in a light-deficient environment for a long time on weekdays, otherwise it will wither. It is not cold-resistant, so you should take anti-cold and warm measures when the temperature drops in autumn and winter.
