What are the cultivation methods and precautions of Dieffenbachia

How to cultivate Dieffenbachia

Dieffenbachia likes warm, humid semi-shady environment, avoids direct sunlight, is not cold-resistant, and the winter temperature needs to be above 12°C. The suitable growth temperature is between 25 and 30°C, and the relative humidity is best between 70% and 90%. It is shade-tolerant and suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic soil.

The fruits of the evergreen plant mature around December, and the seeds can be collected and sown at this time. The soil can be prepared by mixing leaf mold and fine sand, and then water the culture base thoroughly. Cover it with a film to keep it warm and moist. After it germinates, do not rush to uncover the film. When the weather is hot, you can allow it to ventilate slightly. Wait until it grows to about four centimeters and then you can transplant it.

Watering method

During the peak growth season of evergreen, such as spring and autumn, it is necessary to maintain adequate water supply and pay attention to the dryness and wetness of the surrounding soil. In summer, due to excessive evaporation, the supply of water must also be guaranteed. You can water it in the morning and evening, and sprinkle water in time to keep it moist. In winter, keep it slightly dry and no water accumulation should occur.

Fertilization method

Note that during the growing season of evergreen, it is best to apply organic fertilizer once every half a month, and liquid fertilizer once every 10-15 days. When its flower buds are in the early stages of differentiation, fertilizers containing phosphorus and potassium can be applied to promote the differentiation of flower buds.

Pruning methods

Trim off the long stems and leaves of the evergreen plant, which will make the whole plant more beautiful. Secondly, cut off the branches at the top of the evergreen plant, which should be two-thirds of the length of the entire plant. Finally, cut off all the weak and unsightly branches of the evergreen plant.

Things to note when breeding Dieffenbachia

You need to pay attention to the care of evergreen in summer. In addition to watering regularly and spraying water on the leaves, you can also sprinkle water on the ground or spray around the plant to maintain the humidity in the air. Evergreen should not be drenched by heavy rain when it is flowering. It is best to move it indoors for maintenance.
