Should I use a large or small pot for my lily?

In the early stage of planting, fragrant lilies can be grown in small pots. This will facilitate the growth of the bulbs and make it easier for them to absorb water and fertilizer. When the bulbs grow larger, they can be planted in larger pots.

Growth environment: Lily of the valley is more suitable for planting in acidic leaf mold. The most suitable temperature for growth is around 16-24 degrees. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be applied once every half a month during the growth period.

Repotting time: Lily of the valley needs to be repotted after one or two years of care. The best time to repot is in September or October in autumn, that is, after the flowers wither, because repotting at this time will cause the least damage to the lily of the valley.

Should I use a deep or shallow pot for my lily?

The root system of the fragrant lily is relatively developed, and the bulb will grow relatively large. Generally, it can be cultivated in a deep pot when planting. Using a shallow pot may affect the growth space of the fragrant lily's root system.

When planting fragrant lilies, the material requirements are not high. Generally, unglazed pots are suitable. As long as the material of the pot is breathable and water permeable, there will be no water accumulation inside the pot.

How to repot lily

1. Prepare the soil

When repotting the fragrant lily, the size of the new pot can be about 25-30 cm. Generally, the new soil can be loose, breathable, slightly acidic sandy soil or leaf mold.

2. Remove the pot and put it in the pot

The fragrant lily needs to control water before removing it from the pot, and the root system should be cleaned first. When potting it, you can add soil to the pot first, and then spread a layer of base fertilizer. After planting, just water it thoroughly once.
