The growing environment and local conditions of Coptis chinensis

Growth environment and conditions of Coptis chinensis

Coptis chinensis prefers a cool and humid growing environment. When caring for it, it is necessary to avoid the high temperature environment in summer. It is relatively drought-resistant, so it needs to be watered in moderation. It is generally distributed in Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, and southern Shaanxi, and is more common in mountain forests or shady valleys.

Coptis Chinensis Growth Conditions

Coptis chinensis prefers a cool and humid growing environment and is generally planted in a shaded place. It needs to avoid high temperature environments. When planting, it requires a natural environment with relatively low temperatures and high air humidity.

Growth temperature of Coptis chinensis

Coptis chinensis prefers a cool environment and is relatively cold-resistant. Because its leaves can remain evergreen under frost and snow, the temperature needs to be kept between 15-22 degrees when it grows, which is more conducive to its growth.

The growth process of Coptis chinensis

Coptis chinensis seedlings grow slowly. It takes 1-2 months from emergence to growing 1-2 true leaves. After one year of growth, most of them will have 3-4 true leaves. When the plant height is about 3 cm, a few well-growing ones have 4-5 true leaves and a plant height of nearly 6 cm. The rhizome of one-year-old Coptis chinensis has not yet expanded and has relatively few fibrous roots. It needs to grow for 4 years before it will bloom and bear fruit.

Planting time and method of Coptis chinensis

Generally speaking, Coptis chinensis can be planted in spring, summer and autumn. When planting, you need to choose deep, loose, fertile soil rich in humus. When maintaining it, it needs sufficient sunlight so that it can grow well.
