The growing environment and local conditions of Angelica sinensis

Angelica growth environment and conditions

Angelica is suitable for planting in sandy loam with deep soil, fertile and loose soil, good drainage and rich in humus. It should not be planted in low-lying, waterlogged, heavy, easily compacted and poor sandy soil. It is more distributed in the southeastern part of Gansu, and is also cultivated in Yunnan, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hubei and other provinces.

Angelica Growing Conditions

Angelica sinensis is a low-temperature, long-day crop that prefers a cool environment. It generally grows in areas around 1500-3000 meters above sea level. The bolting rate is high in low-sea areas, but it is difficult to survive the summer, and cooling and shading measures are needed. The seedling stage prefers shade, with a light transmittance of 10%, and avoids direct sunlight. The mature plant can withstand strong light.

Angelica growth temperature

Angelica has very strict requirements on temperature. The suitable growth temperature is between 20-30 degrees, and the best growth temperature is between 20-24 degrees. Its seeds must be above 10 degrees to germinate.

Angelica planting time and method

The fruits of Angelica sinensis mature around the beginning of summer, and can be harvested in time, placed in a cool and dry place to air-dry, and then stored in sand. They can be sown in late May and early June of the following year. The seeds should be evenly spread on the soil surface, covered with a layer of soil about 5 mm thick.

After being cared for for a period of time, Angelica will soon sprout. If weeds grow, they must be cleaned up in time. It is best to pull them out manually. Be careful not to damage the new shoots when pulling them out. If the new shoots grow vigorously, pull out the excess ones.
