How to get lotus seeds

Dryopteris belongs to the Nasturtium family. It is not very cold-resistant and prefers a warm and humid growing environment. In winter, the temperature needs to be kept above 10 degrees. Its flowering period is from February to May each year, and its seeds are usually harvested after the flowers mature.

Lotus flower seeds

After the flowers of the lotus wither, the seeds can be harvested when they mature. After drying them, remove all the not-so-good seeds and keep the fuller seeds. They can then be stored and planted next year.

Lotus leaves its own seeds

You can save seeds of Dryopteris, but you should choose fields with high variety purity, uniform growth, high yield and no diseases or insect pests. They can be harvested only when transplanted in spring.

Obtaining lotus seeds

The seeds of the lotus plant are produced after its flowers mature. They can be harvested after they mature. You need to select healthy and plump seeds for sowing.

Collecting seeds of lotus

One or two days after the lotus flower blooms, the stamens are almost mature. Gently apply the pollen on them to the pistil in the middle. This is considered pollination. If the pollination is successful, seeds will be produced.

Preservation of lotus seeds

Dryopteris generally has no dormant period, so it can be harvested and sown at any time. As long as the seeds are mature, they can be sealed in glass jars for preservation, kept dry, and at a suitable temperature.

Planting lotus seeds

The spring sowing of nasturtium usually begins in late February and early March. Of course, the weather in the south has warmed up by then, so it is very suitable for spring sowing. Before planting, the seeds need to be germinated, the seed coat needs to be removed, and then loose and fertile soil needs to be used for planting. Watering should be done in time.
