Dragon fruit seed planting time

Pitaya is a perennial climbing succulent plant. It will germinate 3-4 days after sowing. The growth cycle of potted pitaya and open-field pitaya is different. Potted pitaya needs 3-6 years to bear fruit, and open-field pitaya needs 5-6 years to bear fruit. After bearing fruit, it can be planted in the spring of each year. In addition, the temperature needs to reach about 25 degrees.

How to plant pitaya seeds

1. Obtaining seeds (1) Cut the dragon fruit pulp into pieces and put them in a cleaning bag. The cleaning bag must be made of fine mesh. If you don’t have a fine mesh cleaning bag at home, you can use a fine mesh stocking instead and put the cut pulp in it.
(2) Next, pull up the mouth of the cleaning bag, put it on the faucet, and rub it with low water. Rub it back and forth. This will easily separate the pulp and the black seeds. Put the separated dragon fruit seeds aside and use them for sowing.
2. Pot soil: Prepare the flower pot for pitaya planting. You can choose a ceramic pot or a plastic pot. However, the flower pot does not need to be too large. A smaller flower pot is better. The soil can be culture soil. Put the soil into the flower pot, smooth the surface, and remember to cover the bottom with a layer of coarse sand.
3. Sowing method: The potting soil and seeds are ready. First, water the soil to keep it moist. Then, sow the pitaya seeds on the surface of the potting soil. Sow the seeds evenly and don't gather them all together. After sowing the pitaya seeds, sprinkle a layer of fine soil on the surface of the seeds to cover them.
4. After sowing, wait until the dragon fruit seeds are sown, seal the pot mouth with plastic wrap to keep warm and moisturize. Then put the flower pot on a bright windowsill, and then leave it to time, patiently wait for the seeds to germinate, generally within a week.
