Melon planting time

Muskmelon, also known as cantaloupe, is a plant of the genus Cucurbitaceae. Muskmelon is suitable for sowing in spring. The specific time for sowing is February to March. The temperature at this time is suitable and the soil is moist, which can increase the chance of survival. If the temperature is relatively low, sowing can be postponed to March to April.

Melon planting method

Seed soaking: Before sowing melons, soak the seeds in clean water for about 3 hours. After taking them out, soak them in a solution of carbendazim for half an hour to disinfect and sterilize the seeds. After taking them out, add some iron chlorpyrifos and stir them thoroughly to reduce diseases.

Planting: After the seeds are processed, they can be sown into the soil and covered with 3 cm of thin soil. The row spacing should be kept at about 60 cm and the plant spacing at 50 cm. This will give the melon seedlings enough space to grow and avoid competition for nutrients, allowing them to grow healthily.

Key points for melon planting

After planting melons, the temperature needs to be controlled at around 30℃, which is more conducive to seed germination, or the ground can be covered with film to keep warm. During the seedling stage, the temperature can be maintained between 20℃ and 25℃. The temperature must not be lower than 10℃, otherwise it will affect the growth of the plant.

Melon ripe harvest

Generally speaking, it takes about 3-5 months for melons to mature from sowing, but the maturity time of different varieties of melons is different, and the fruiting period is generally from April to May.
