When is the right time to sow radish?

Radish sowing time

Radish is a plant of the genus Raphanus in the cruciferous family. The minimum temperature for germination of radish is 7 degrees. It will germinate in about 10 days under 20 degrees. The best time for spring sowing is mid-March when the ground temperature is stable at 7-8 degrees. The best time for summer sowing is early June.

Radish sowing method

The planting and management of radish is relatively simple. It is best to choose a place with deep soil, loose soil and good drainage. Disinfect the soil in advance and apply sufficient base fertilizer. The base fertilizer mainly consists of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer.

Before planting radish, soak the seeds in 37-degree warm water for 12 hours to promote germination. After sowing the seeds into the soil, cover them with a 1-cm layer of soil and gently flatten the surface of the bed with a shovel to promote seed germination.

Key points for planting radish

Radish sprouts slowly, but weeds grow very fast, so it is necessary to spray herbicides in time to remove weeds. During the growth period, it is necessary to water it in time to keep the soil slightly moist, and apply fertilizer to meet nutrient needs. This will shorten the growth cycle and improve economic benefits.

Carrots ripe for harvest

If radishes are maintained in a greenhouse, they can be harvested all year round. If they are sown in spring, they will be available on the market in April. The growth cycle is 40 days, and 2,000 to 2,500 kilograms of radishes can be produced per acre. If they are sown in summer, the growth cycle is about 35 days, and 2,000 to 3,000 kilograms of radishes can be produced per acre.
