Mung bean sowing time

Mung bean is the seed of the legume plant mung bean, an annual upright herb. It has a long history of cultivation in China and is harvested once a year.

Mung beans prefer a high temperature and high humidity environment. If they are sown in spring, the time should not be too early, otherwise it will affect the survival rate. If they are sown in summer, the time can be a little earlier, so that the growth period is in a high temperature and high humidity environment, and its yield will be significantly increased.

Mung bean sowing method

1. Mung beans need to be turned over after the autumn harvest every year, and then sown in the spring of the following year. Direct sowing can be done, that is, in the turned over planting land, dig a planting hole every thirty to fifty centimeters, sprinkle three to four seeds in each planting hole, and then sprinkle some compound fertilizer. It is best to cover it with soil.

2. Mung beans can also be transplanted. You need to raise the seedlings first and keep them in semi-shade where the sun is not visible. You can transplant them after the seedlings grow four to five leaves.

Key points for growing mung beans

Before planting mung beans, you need to select seeds of good quality. They can be sown when the ground temperature is between 16 and 20 degrees. Mung beans generally do not require fertilizer. If there is too much fertilizer, it will affect the growth of seedlings, resulting in reduced yields. If viral diseases, root rot and rust occur during the growth period, timely prevention is needed.

Mung beans ripe for harvest

The growth cycle of mung bean is about 70 to 100 days. It is generally harvested around July to October. Its yield per mu is generally around 100 to 150 kilograms.
