Pineapple fruiting in the first few years

Pineapple fruiting in the first few years

Introduction to growing pineapple heads

The pineapple head is an annual plant, so it should not be called a "tree". A pineapple only blooms once and will not bloom again.

The cultivation of pineapple heads in China is mainly concentrated in Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan and other provinces, with a small amount distributed in Yunnan and southern Guizhou. The main pineapple producing areas in Taiwan are in Tainan, Taichung and Kaohsiung. Guangdong Province has a large planting area and a high yield, mainly concentrated in Shantou, Zhanjiang, Jiangmen and other areas and the suburbs of Guangzhou.

Pineapple head planting results after several years

After planting pineapple heads, it usually takes 3-4 years to bear fruit. The soil for planting pineapple heads must have sufficient fertility. Before planting, deep plowing should be carried out, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied, the seedlings should be planted and the soil should be cultivated. The planting density should not be too large, otherwise it will affect the yield. After the young seedlings survive, appropriate fertilization should be carried out. Do not use chemical fertilizers, you can apply farmyard manure.

Potted pineapple head with fruit

Potted pineapple heads generally need 3-4 years of care before they can bear fruit. There are four harvesting seasons: spring fruits ripen in April and May, summer fruits ripen in June and July, autumn fruits ripen in October and November, and winter fruits ripen from December to January of the following year.

Why doesn't the pineapple head bear fruit?

The reason why pineapple heads do not bear fruit may be due to natural disasters, such as frost damage during or before flowering. In addition, if fertilizer is not applied in time, the plant will be malnourished and the flower buds will not develop completely, which will cause the pistil to degenerate and make it difficult to bear fruit.

Key points for planting pineapple heads

When planting pineapple heads, you need to choose a suitable plot of land. It is best to plant it in a place facing north and south, with sufficient sunlight, abundant water resources and convenient transportation. Renovate the soil in advance, apply enough base fertilizer, select strong seedlings for planting, and control the density.

During the growth period of pineapple heads, water and fertilizer management should be done well. Bud-promoting fertilizer should be applied before buds emerge from December to February of the following year. Bud-strengthening fertilizer can be applied once after fruit harvesting. Fruit-strengthening and germination-accelerating fertilizer can be applied between bud-promoting fertilizer and bud-strengthening fertilizer. Foliar fertilizer should be applied once in April, June, July and September each year, and top dressing should be applied twice in May and August. Use 1% urea plus 0.5% potassium sulfate solution, and apply base fertilizer after fruit harvesting.
