Onion planting time

The spring planting time for onions is January, and they are usually harvested around mid-April. They are often cultivated by covering the ground with mulch. The autumn planting time is generally September, and the onions will be on the market in October. Because the temperature is relatively high when planting onions in this season, you can lay some straw between the rows to reduce the temperature and retain moisture, so that the onions can grow better.

The winter planting time is generally October and harvest in January. It can also be planted in November and harvested in February. Onions have high requirements for temperature and water. It is necessary to pay attention to the soil moisture content between 40%~60% and the temperature between 15℃~25℃.

Onion Planting Method

1. Choose onion seedlings: Onion seedlings are usually purchased on the market. When choosing, try to choose fresh ones, do not buy wilted ones, and the onion roots should be intact, and it is best to keep a little soil on them. That is the best choice.

2. Prepare containers: Onions can be planted in any container, including flower pots or other vegetable growing containers. You can also plant onions and flowers together, which is a good way to save space.

3. Simple processing: Before planting onions, they still need to be processed first. The onion leaves can be cut and eaten. When cutting, try to leave more onion whites. This makes it easier to plant and easier for them to survive.

4. Planting onions: Put nutrient soil in the flowerpot, dig a hole, put the onions in, cover it with soil, and flatten it. Onions have strong vitality, so you can plant them like this.

5. Watering and applying fertilizer: After planting the onions, water them and keep them in a sunny place. As long as the temperature is above 0 degrees, they can generally survive. New shoots will grow after about 7 days. At this time, you should apply some organic fertilizer in time, which is more conducive to the growth of the onions.
