What fertilizer is good for growing lotus roots?

Lotus root fertilizer

Generally, plants need 16 fertilizer elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, but the required amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is relatively large. Fertilization is generally carried out with compound fertilizers containing the three elements of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Compound fertilizers containing potassium chloride are called potassium chloride compound fertilizers, and those containing potassium sulfate are called potassium sulfate compound fertilizers. Lotus ponds have high reducing properties, so potassium sulfate is generally not used. Instead, potassium chloride compound fertilizers are used.

Lotus root fertilizer

When preparing the land for lotus roots, you can apply animal manure, diammonium phosphate, potassium sulfate, quicklime, superphosphate, and cake fertilizer, and then rake the land flat. Make sure the fertilizer is fully decomposed and diluted with water.

Fertilizer for lotus root growth period

When the lotus root grows 1-2 erect leaves, combine inter-row cultivation and weeding, apply urea or human manure, and carry out the second fertilization after 5-6 erect leaves grow. Apply 20-25 kg of compound fertilizer, 5 kg of urea, or about 800 kg of human manure fertilizer per mu.

Fertilizer for lotus root fruiting period

When the lotus root ends with the emergence of leaves, the lotus roots also begin to grow. At this time, topdressing fertilizer can be applied to the lotus roots. 1000-1500 kg of manure fertilizer and 30-50 kg of cake fertilizer can be applied per mu.

The correct way to fertilize lotus root

When fertilizing lotus roots, you must check the weather conditions. Do not do it at noon when the weather is clear. At this time, the temperature is high and the evaporation rate is fast, so the fertilizer consumption is large and the effect is not very ideal. Before fertilizing, you must lower the water level in the lotus field to promote fertilizer penetration, and then increase the water level to the previous level after fertilizing.

If the water level is deep, then pay attention to the form of the fertilizer. Do not apply liquid fertilizer. Use solid fertilizer as the main fertilizer. When applying fertilizer, be sure to mix the fertilizer and mud thoroughly before applying it to the lotus field.

Lotus root fertilization precautions

Lotus root fertilizer should be applied on a sunny and windless day, not at hot noon. In deep water lotus root fields, fertilizer is easy to be lost. Do not use liquid fertilizer. Solid fertilizer application method should be adopted, that is, heavy manure should be applied and mixed with soil thoroughly.
