How long is the growth cycle of fruit cucumber?

Introduction to Fruit Cucumber Growth

Fruit cucumbers are native to tropical humid forest areas and mainly grow in organic-rich soil and rainy environments. Cucumbers originated in India and were later introduced to Central Asia. They are now widely planted in temperate and tropical regions. Today, many areas in China have greenhouses or plastic greenhouses for cultivation.

Fruit cucumber growth cycle

Fruit cucumbers are suitable for growing in places with sufficient light, because they are light-loving vegetables. Sufficient light is conducive to increasing yields. They have shallow roots and large leaves. They like warmth, humidity and are resistant to weak light. Their growth cycle is about 90-120 days.

Fruit cucumber growth rate

The growth process of fruit cucumber generally needs to go through the sowing period, germination period, growth period, flowering period, fruit-bearing period and maturity period. Its growth rate is relatively fast. If it is sown around April, it will germinate at the end of April, grow vines and leaves in May, bloom and bear fruit in June, and mature from the end of June to early July.

Fruit cucumber growth cycle management

Fruit cucumbers generally have a yield of 2,500 to 3,000 kilograms per mu under good cultivation conditions. Fruit cucumbers prefer warm climates, are not resistant to high temperatures or cold, and are not demanding on soil conditions. They are suitable for growing in clay loam that is rich in organic matter, fertile, and has strong water and fertilizer retention capabilities.

Temperature Management

The optimum temperature for fruit cucumbers is usually 10-32℃, and they grow best at 25-32℃ during the day and 15-18℃ at night. The most suitable ground temperature is 20-25℃, and the lowest is around 15℃. The most suitable temperature difference between day and night is 10-15℃.

Fertilization management

When planting fruit cucumbers, sufficient base fertilizer needs to be applied. The base fertilizer is mainly decomposed organic fertilizer. Urea or potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be sprayed on the leaves during the growth process. When the cucumber seedlings have not climbed halfway to the trellis, they need to be watered with diluted manure water once every five days, and this should be done at the same time as loosening the soil and tilling the soil.
