How long is the growth cycle of radish?

Introduction to Radish Growth

Radish is suitable for growing in sandy soil that is rich in humus, has a deep soil layer, is well-drained, loose and breathable, and the pH value of the soil should be between 5.3 and 7.0. The main producing areas in my country include Xinfeng, Tongling, Gangkou, Yingzhou, Xiqing, Longshan, Fuling, Weixian and other places.

Radish growth cycle

Radishes like mild and cool weather and need sufficient sunlight during their growth process. Only with sufficient sunlight can the plants grow healthily. The growth cycle of radishes is generally one or two years, depending on the variety.

Radish growth rate

It takes 5-7 days for radish seeds to germinate and grow into the first pair of true leaves, and then 15-20 days for 5-8 rosette leaves to unfold. It takes 20-30 days for the root head to begin to swell, widen and thicken, and then about 40-45 days to harvest, so its growth cycle is relatively fast.

Radish growth cycle management

The yield of different varieties of radish is different. The yield of red radish per mu is about 1,500-2,000 jin, the yield of big-headed green radish per mu can reach 10,000 jin, and the yield of carrot per mu is about 4,000 jin in spring and about 6,000 jin in autumn.

Temperature Management

The suitable temperature for radish seeds to germinate is 20-25℃. The seedlings can withstand a maximum temperature of around 25℃. The suitable temperature for leaf growth is 15-20℃.

Fertilization management

Radishes need proper fertilization during the cultivation process, mainly potassium-based fertilizers, followed by nitrogen, and then phosphorus. Only by applying appropriate fertilizers can radishes grow well.
