Winter wheat has strong cold resistance and it divides quickly when spring comes. The winter wheat areas in the south are mainly concentrated in Jiangsu, Sichuan, Anhui and Hubei provinces, while the winter wheat areas in the north are mainly distributed in Henan, Hebei, Shandong, Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces.

Most of the wheat seeds used for planting now have no dormancy period. Its growth period can be divided into seedling stage, tillering stage, growth stage, heading stage, filling stage and maturity stage. Winter wheat is generally sown in October in autumn. The per-acre yield of wheat is mostly between 500 jin and 900 jin. Good management techniques and varieties can increase wheat yield. The seedling stage of winter wheat refers to the two stages before and after the year. The seedling stage is characterized by nutritional growth such as leaf and root growth and tillering growth, and the time is more than five months.

Temperature Management

In the northern wheat-growing areas, when the temperature stabilizes at 0℃ before winter, the wheat seedlings basically stop growing and enter a dormant state. For normally growing wheat seedlings, the lowest temperature at the tillering node of winter varieties in severe winter is -13℃, and for strong winter varieties in Xinjiang and other places it is -17℃.

Fertilization management

During the growth process of winter wheat, there must be sufficient base fertilizer as nutrition. Do not apply only nitrogen fertilizer. Fertilization must be scientific and the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium must be reasonable.
