Watermelon Introduction

Watermelon, also known as summer melon, winter melon, and Qingmen Green Jade House, is an annual climbing vine. The fruit is nearly spherical or oval, plump and juicy, with many seeds, black or red. Watermelon growing conditions

Watermelon likes a warm, dry and sunny environment. It is not cold-resistant. The optimum temperature for its growth and development is 24-30 degrees. The suitable temperature for root growth is 30-32 degrees. The minimum temperature for root hairs is 14 degrees. A large temperature difference between day and night is required during the growth period.

Watermelon is drought-resistant but not water-resistant. When there are many rainy days and the humidity is too high, it is prone to diseases and pests. It has strong adaptability to the environment, but it is best planted in loose, deep, well-drained, slightly acidic sandy soil with a pH value of 5-7.

China's watermelons are mainly distributed in Shandong and Guangxi. The main watermelon variety is Black Beauty. The main watermelon variety in Inner Mongolia is Flower-skinned watermelon. The watermelons are particularly large and are mainly sold to Shandong, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Northeast China and other regions, which are also major planting areas.

Watermelon planting time

Watermelon is suitable for planting in spring, some in March, some in April, and some in June and July. When cultivated in the open field, the temperature of the land needs to be above 15 degrees. Germination should be carried out during planting, and then sowing can be done.
