How to sow peach seeds

Peach seed sowing time

The time for planting peach seeds is generally from January to March in spring and from November to December in autumn, but in northern regions, care must be taken to prevent freezing to death when planting in autumn, and care must be taken when sowing seeds in spring.

Because when winter turns to spring, the soil recovers from its frozen state, and the soil needs time to allow the seeds to develop slowly. At that time, we can strengthen the seed management work.

Peach seeds will bloom and bear fruit in the second year after planting. The branches and shoots grow vigorously, and new shoots can be produced three times a year. The secondary shoots can also form flower buds and bloom and bear fruit.

Peach seeds sowing in summer

It is not suitable to sow peach seeds in summer. The best time to sow them is in spring and autumn. These two seasons can effectively increase the germination rate.

How to sow peach seeds

Before sowing peach seeds, you should choose loose, fertile, well-drained, and organic-rich soil. Generally, 2 parts of fertile garden soil, 2 parts of leaf mold, and 1 part of decomposed livestock and poultry manure are used, or 3 parts of garden soil, 1 part of slag, and 1 part of decomposed high-quality organic fertilizer are mixed. When preparing, first crush and sieve all the ingredients, then mix them evenly according to the proportion, and disinfect them in advance.

Then soak the selected seeds in warm water at 30 to 40 degrees for four hours to allow the seeds to fully absorb water before sowing. Cover them with a thin layer of soil, and cover them with a film if the temperature is low.

Peach seed sowing management

1. When peaches are ripe, they can be harvested in time and the seeds can be taken out, soaked in hot water for 1 hour, and then sown or planted in sandy loam.

2. Peach seeds will germinate after 30 to 40 days after sowing, and can be transplanted after being left in the bed for 1 to 2 years. When sowing in pots, they can be transplanted after planting in the seedbed for 1 year, and they will bloom 3 to 4 years after transplanting.
