Coffee seed planting time

The sowing time for coffee is from Qingming to Guyu in spring every year. Spring comes late in northern my country, so the sowing time should be advanced. May is the best time in spring when the temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. It takes 4 to 5 years from sowing to flowering.

Coffee seeds sown in summer

Coffee seeds are mainly sown in spring, usually in mid-April, with the best temperature being 15℃-22℃. Planting in summer is difficult.

Coffee seed sowing method

To plant coffee potted plants, you must first select suitable seeds, cut and peel them, and then soak them in water for 3 hours. Prepare a 3:2:2 mixture of peat soil, perlite and vermiculite, sow the seeds directly on the soil, cover them with soil, water them, and place them in a ventilated place for maintenance. They will germinate and emerge in one month in spring and autumn, and can be transplanted and maintained when the seedlings grow true leaves.

Coffee seed sowing management

1. Coffee seeds need to be disinfected before sowing. First, soak them in 0.1% potassium permanganate solution for 15 seconds, then wash them clean, soak them in clean water for 24 hours, then take them out and drain the water, and prepare for sowing.

2. After sowing coffee seeds, it takes about 1-2 months to germinate and grow "goose neck" shaped buds. The heads of the seedlings are still buried in the soil with the seeds.

3. When the coffee seedlings are 3-6 cm tall, they should be thinned out. Weak or overcrowded seedlings should be removed. When thinning out the seedlings, the soil can also be loosened and weeded to keep the soil loose. Water the soil in time to keep it moist, and do not let it be too dry or too wet.
