How long is the growth period of lotus root?

Introduction to Lotus Root Growth

Lotus root is native to India and mainly grows in swamps. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hunan and other places. Among them, the lotus root planting area produced in Jiangsu and other places ranks first.

Lotus root growth cycle

Lotus root is suitable for cultivation in low-lying land, ponds, and lakes, and requires growth in hot and rainy seasons. Lotus root generally grows from May to September.

Lotus root growth rate

Lotus roots generally reproduce asexually with enlarged rhizomes, and the whole growth period is about 180 to 200 days. When the temperature of lotus roots is above 20℃, the lotus whips extend rapidly and the plants begin to grow vigorously. When the main lotus whip is about 7 meters long, new lotus roots begin to form. When the leaves are pulled out, nutrients are concentrated in the new lotus roots.

Lotus root growth cycle management

Temperature management: Lotus root germinates in an environment of 15 degrees, and it is best to grow in an environment of 25 degrees to 30 degrees. When the temperature drops to 15 degrees, it basically stops growing.

Fertilization management : Lotus roots like fertilizer, but too much fertilizer will burn the seedlings. Therefore, it is necessary to spray new lipid film to increase the utilization rate of the effective ingredients of fertilizer. It is not afraid of evaporation due to sun exposure and can regulate the amount of water absorbed.
