How long does it take for blueberries to grow?

Introduction to Blueberry Growth

Blueberries are mainly distributed in cool areas such as North Korea, Mongolia, Europe, North America, and Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Changbai Mountain in Jilin in mainland China.

Blueberry growth cycle

Blueberries can grow several times in one growing season, and the second growth is more common. In the south, blueberries have two growth peaks in May-June and July-August. They sprout in May, leaf buds bloom, leaves unfold in June, new shoots grow, and flowers bloom. In early July, the fruits swell and color, and in early August, the fruits mature.

Blueberry growth rate

When blueberries are growing, sow the seeds in the soil, cover with sand and water to keep them moist. The seedlings will gradually break through the soil. In the early stages, the leaves begin to unfold, and more green leaf tissues are visible, with a length of about 6 to 12 centimeters. At this time, the axillary buds will burst along with the flower buds.

Blueberry Growth Cycle Management

With a blueberry plant spacing of 1 meter and a row spacing of 1.2, only about 270 blueberries can be planted per acre. A nursery that is more than 5 years old and well managed can produce about 5 to 8 kilograms of blueberries.

Temperature management: Blueberries are resistant to high temperatures and can grow at temperatures between 40 and 50 degrees. Their photosynthetic capacity reaches its strongest when the temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees.

Fertilization management : Blueberries dislike calcium. Too much calcium will induce iron deficiency and chlorosis. In fertilization, we must pay special attention to avoid excessive fertilization to avoid fertilizer damage. Blueberries prefer ammonium nitrogen. When planting, they are mainly nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium organic nutrient fertilizers.
