How to make apple seeds germinate quickly

Apple seed germination environment

Apples are planted in March every spring. This is the golden time for apples and the survival rate of sowing is the highest. You can also buy fresh varieties, take out all the seeds inside, wrap them with toilet paper, and store them in a cool place or refrigerator.

Soak the apple seeds in water. They can germinate faster after absorbing moisture. The temperature should also be 33-35 degrees. The humidity required by the germination facility should not be too high, and the air permeability should be good to reduce the occurrence of rotten seeds.

Apple seed germination process

After taking out the apple seeds, soak them in warm water for 8-12 hours to make them germinate faster. After taking them out, place them on soaked gauze and place them in an environment of 25 degrees for 2-3 days. Then sow the seeds in loose soil, cover them with a thin layer of soil, compact them slightly, and place them in a sunny place.

Direct planting of apple seeds

Apple seeds can germinate if planted directly, but the germination speed will be slightly slower. If they are handled properly, they will germinate soon.

Apple seed germination

Apple seeds need to be germinated and then planted in deep, well-drained soil rich in organic matter and slightly acidic to slightly alkaline. Water in time after sowing to keep the soil moist, cover with a film and maintain the temperature.

Apple seed germination planting steps

1. The preparation for cultivation is to tear up the seeds of the eaten apples, take out the seeds, wash them with water once, take them out of the shell until there is no water, dry them, and when preparing a sealed container, wrap the seeds with a paper towel and put them in the container. Put the container in the refrigerator and cool it for 2 to 3 months, controlling it at 4 to 5 degrees. This is a simulation of the winter temperature.

2. If it is winter, this kind of operation is not necessary. Check regularly during refrigeration to confirm the humidity of the container. After 2 months, the seeds will begin to germinate and can be taken out. You can choose to sow in the area for seedlings, or you can use basins to grow seedlings and transplant them after the seedlings grow to a certain size.

3. Eat compost and cover the leaves of plants to get enough strength. The seeds are very fragile, so be careful when sowing and be flexible. Put the seeds into the soil, cover them with soil, pat gently, and water vigorously to keep the soil moist. After sowing, place them in an environment with slightly higher temperature and good sunlight. They will begin to germinate after about a few weeks.

4. When the trees have grown up to a certain extent, you can start to change the species. When you can start transplanting in terms of layout, choose a location for transplanting and consider the three factors of light, soil, and space. Apple is a light-loving fruit tree and needs more than 6 hours of light a day, so it needs an environment with sufficient light.

5. Apples prefer a moist soil environment, but because they are afraid of flooding, the soil must have good drainage, which means that apple trees planted from seeds are not dwarfed and can grow to 9 meters high. Therefore, the planting area must ensure sufficient space for growth, and each tree should be 4-5 meters apart.

6. If you choose to plant in a certain area, you can transplant it. The best time for transplanting is in spring or autumn. The temperature and climate at this time can improve the survival rate of seedlings. Dig a cold mixing hole with a diameter of the seedling root. After digging, loosen the soil around the pit to make the roots grow better. Evenly spread the roots of the seedlings in the pit.

7. Correct the seedlings, cover them with soil, harvest them, and water them adequately. Although organic fertilizers and compost can also be applied to speed up the growth of seedlings when planting, it is important to apply chemical fertilizers and immature organic fertilizers and compost to prevent seedlings from wilting after root burn.
