When is the right time to plant Yanghe?

The best time to plant Yanghe

The recommended sowing time is in spring and autumn every year. March and April can be chosen in spring, and October can be chosen in autumn. Generally, the best time to plant Yanghe is in mid-March, when the temperature and humidity are suitable. After planting, the stems can be fully in contact with the soil, and the yield will be higher after germination.

How to plant Yanghe

There are two types of cultivation for shade lotus: division cultivation and broadcasting cultivation. However, since broadcasting cultivation grows slowly and has poor results, division cultivation is generally adopted.

When planting, first dig out the tubers, leaving 2-3 seed buds for each plant, then disinfect the incision, sprinkle with wood ash, and then dig holes for planting. Before planting, it is best to use an appropriate amount of decomposed tuna as the bottom of the hole.

Things to note when planting and managing Yanghe

1. Breeding and sowing

Through seed propagation and tuber propagation, Yanghe can obtain a lower germination rate and a longer seedling period, which is generally not recommended. Tuber seedling cultivation has a high germination rate, a short seedling period, and good economic benefits, which is the best choice.

2. Water and fertilizer management

When the yanghe grows to 30 cm and has 1-2 small branches, it is necessary to apply topdressing. This time, the topdressing is mainly farmyard manure, and 5kg of urea per mu is also needed as topdressing. When the branches of the yanghe reach more than 6, apply water and fertilizer again. Fertilizer per mu is 70kg cake fertilizer + 15kg compound fertilizer.

3. Field management

Yanghe itself has an insect repellent effect, so there are fewer pests. Daily management mainly involves weeding, loosening the soil and watering. Weeding should be started after the Yanghe seedlings emerge to prevent the theft of nutrients from the Yanghe. In addition, the soil should be loosened from time to time to maintain soil fertility.

It depends on the weather conditions, especially after the Yanghe has more than 6 branches, the growth rate accelerates and the water demand is large. It is advisable to water it once a week and also once after harvest.
