When is the best time to sow ginseng?

Suitable time for sowing ginseng

Ginseng is a perennial herb that prefers fertile soil. It is most widely planted in Liaoning Province and can be planted many times a year. Since it is not an annual, there are no strict restrictions.

Ginseng is best planted in the spring from mid-to-late April to mid-May, and the best time to plant is around five in the evening, when the survival rate of the plants will be the highest.

Ginseng will mature five to six years after being sown, and the best time to pick it is around August of the same year. Generally, the yield per mu in high-quality producing areas can be maintained at around 600 kilograms.

Ginseng sowing method

When planting ginseng, you must first turn the soil thoroughly. You can use a shovel or hoe. If you are in a plain area, you can also use a large combined machine to facilitate seed germination.

Then sow the ginseng seeds into the fluffy soil, and then pour some water to keep the initial soil in a moist environment. This will maximize the chances of it breaking through the soil and growing into a young plant.

Ginseng Planting Tips

During the ginseng planting process, you must pay attention to ensuring the fertility of the soil. If the original soil lacks nutrients, you can sprinkle some humus water solution after sowing to supplement nutrients.

During the growth of ginseng, be careful to avoid watering too much. If water accumulates in the soil, the roots of the plant will easily be unable to breathe, eventually leading to root rot.
