Jasmine soil requirements

Jasmine likes acidic soil and cannot be planted in alkaline or neutral soil, otherwise it will cause the leaves to turn yellow. Jasmine generally uses loose and breathable sandy soil, or a mixture of sandy soil, humus layer soil, and peat soil in a ratio of 1:1:2, and an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer can be added as base fertilizer to make nutritious soil for the healthy growth of jasmine in the later stage.

How to prepare jasmine soil

1. First, mix the topsoil, compost and fine sand in a ratio of 4:4:2.

2. Then mix garden soil, humus soil, fine sand or fine coal slag with 0.1% sulfur powder in a ratio of 4:4:2/3.

3. Then mix the garden soil, leaf mold, and cake fertilizer in a ratio of 4:5:1, and add a little bone meal as base fertilizer when putting into the pot.

4. Finally, mix garden soil, compost soil, river sand or rice bran ash in a ratio of 4:4:2, and add fully decomposed cake fertilizer powder and chicken and duck manure as base fertilizer.

Jasmine soil maintenance

Insects in the soil: Insects growing in the jasmine soil should be sprayed with pesticides in time for prevention and control. Commonly used pesticides include dicofol, dimethoate, and cypermethrin. In 400ml of water, add 4 drops of cypermethrin, metoclopramide, or cypermethrin, and 8 drops of dicofol or dimethoate. After adding the drugs, shake well and spray immediately.

How often should the soil be changed: Jasmine needs to have its potting soil changed once a year. When changing the soil, some of the old soil and residual roots around the roots of the jasmine should be removed and replaced with new planting soil to improve the softness and nutrients of the soil, which is conducive to the growth of jasmine.

Is it okay to put wood ash in the soil : Jasmine can be planted with wood ash. Wood ash itself is a very good fertilizer, but you must pay attention to the method and amount when applying it, otherwise it is easy to cause fertilizer damage.

Can eggshells be added to the soil: It is best not to add eggshells to jasmine soil. It is ineffective to bury eggshells in soil without too many nutrients. Eggshells contain more calcium, which makes the soil alkaline, which is not suitable for the growth habits of jasmine, because jasmine likes acidic soil.
