When is the best time to sow dandelion seeds?

Dandelion seed sowing time

Dandelion seeds are mainly planted in spring and autumn, approximately between February and May, or between August and October in autumn. The temperature in these two time periods is very suitable, and there will be no fluctuations in temperature. The seeds will germinate in a short time after sowing.

Dandelion seed planting method and steps

1. Collecting seeds

If you want dandelions to sprout faster, you need to choose suitable seeds. Dandelions bloom in summer and autumn every year, which is the best time to harvest seeds. It is recommended that you collect uncracked seeds for sowing, so that the survival rate will be high. You can also go directly to the market to buy seeds for sowing.

2. Prepare the soil

Before sowing dandelions, you need to prepare suitable soil. Dandelions like soil with good permeability and sufficient nutrients. If you prepare it yourself, you can mix it with garden soil, river sand and a small amount of base fertilizer, or you can directly use nutrient soil for maintenance.

3. Sowing

Sprinkle the prepared seeds evenly on the soil, control the sowing density, and cover them with a 1-2 cm layer of soil after sowing. Then spray water appropriately to keep the soil moist and wait for the seeds to germinate.

4. Post-planting maintenance

After completing sowing, you must strengthen the management of the plants and control the light and water. Under normal circumstances, the seeds will germinate within half a month. After germination, you can increase the light time to promote the growth of the seedlings. No fertilizer is needed during this period. Only after one month of maintenance can you apply a small amount of thin liquid fertilizer.
