Cultivation methods and precautions of colored taro (how to grow large leaves of colored taro)

Colorful taro is a very popular ornamental potted flower in recent years. It has an elegant plant shape, smooth and slender petioles, shield-shaped arrow-shaped or broad heart-shaped large leaves that resemble elephant ears. The surface of the leaves is covered with colorful patterns, just like a beautiful oil painting.

Is colorful taro easy to grow?

Colorful taro is very easy to grow . It is relatively shade-tolerant, and can be grown anywhere in the house as long as it is not placed in a place that is exposed to the sun, such as in the living room, coffee table, desk, dining table, etc., and its ornamental value is very high.

How to cultivate colorful taro

1. Lighting

When growing colored taro, you can place it in a semi-shaded environment . However, if it is not exposed to sunlight for a long time during its growth, its branches and leaves will become too long, thin, lack vitality, and have dull leaves.

2. Watering

Colorful taro likes a relatively humid living environment, especially during the growth period, a lot of water can make it grow healthier. You can water it once a day to ensure that the pot soil is moist. When the weather is hot , the water evaporates quickly, so you can water it once in the morning and evening .

3. Fertilization

Colorful taro has a certain demand for fertilizer during the growth period, but it does not like thick fertilizer. Therefore, during the growth period, you can mix a compound fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium with water and apply it once every 15 days . The nitrogen content in the fertilizer should be low to avoid leaf discoloration.

4. Soil

To cultivate colorful taro, you first need to prepare suitable soil. It likes to grow in loose, fertile and well-drained slightly acidic soil , so you can use leaf mold, sandy soil and other materials to mix and prepare. During the cultivation process, you also need to replace the potting soil every 1-2 years so that it can grow better.

Precautions for the maintenance of colorful taro

When caring for colorful taro, you should pay attention to the fact that it likes to grow in an environment with good permeability, especially in high temperatures. You must open the windows frequently to ensure air circulation , otherwise it will be easily infected by pests and diseases, which will hinder its growth.
