What are the cultivation methods and precautions of four-season camellia

Growth habits of four seasons camellia

Four-season camellia likes the sun, but it should not be overexposed in the summer. It is recommended to be half-sun, and it can be properly shaded when planted in the ground, and potted plants can be maintained indoors. It prefers a warm and humid environment, and the ideal growth temperature is 15-25 degrees. It is not suitable for overly dry air. It is recommended that the air humidity be above 60%.

Four Seasons Camellia Cultivation Method

Soil: Camellia has high requirements for soil. The best soil configuration is 50% mountain soil, 40% sawdust or edible fungus residue, and 10% cake fertilizer powder or livestock manure and phosphate fertilizer powder.

Light: Pay attention to sunlight when planting. Sufficient light is required in spring and autumn, but direct sunlight must be avoided in summer. The plant will easily die if exposed to strong light for too long.

Temperature: The suitable temperature is 18-25 degrees, so the ambient temperature should not be too high or too low. The indoor temperature in winter must be above 3 degrees. If it is below 0 degrees, frostbite will occur.

Watering: Four-season camellia likes a humid environment, not too dry, not too wet, and not alternately dry and wet. You can water it more in spring, water it twice a day in the morning and evening in summer, and the same applies to autumn and spring. In winter, it is best to water it before and after the plants.

Fertilization: Generally, fertilize about 3 times in the nearly half a year after flowering, and once in winter. In order to make the flowers more beautiful, it is best to add more phosphorus fertilizer.

Pruning: Generally, branches that affect the shape of the tree and diseased and weak branches are pruned off, and flower buds are arranged. Once the flower buds are too dense, they should be combed out. After the flowers wither, they should be picked in time to reduce nutrient consumption.

Precautions for growing four-season camellia

Repotting: Four-season camellia generally needs to be repotted once every two years. Changing to a larger pot is beneficial to its growth. The best time to repot is in April. Do not remove all the old soil, but add a small amount of base fertilizer and then water it.

Pests and diseases: Four-season camellia is very susceptible to diseases, the most common of which are black mold and anthracnose. At this time, you only need to spray 0.5 degrees of Bordeaux mixture. The main pest is the tea tip moth, so you just need to cut off the insect tips.
