Time to repot succulent plants

The succulent plant needs to be repotted. As the maintenance time increases, the plant becomes larger and larger, and the original pot can no longer meet the growth needs of the plant. At this time, it is necessary to repot the plant or turn the soil to ensure that the plant continues to grow.

The succulent plant needs to be repotted once every 1-2 years. This will provide a larger growth space and sufficient nutrients. When repotting the plant, be sure to choose the right time. It is best to do it in spring and autumn when the climate is suitable and it will be easier to adapt after repotting.

How to repot succulent plants

1. Remove from the basin

Before repotting the succulent plant, stop watering it a week in advance to keep the soil dry. If the soil is very moist when removing it from the pot, it will cause serious damage to the roots. When removing it from the pot, turn the pot sideways, hold the succulent plant with one hand, and slowly pull it out to safely remove it from the pot.

2. Root trimming

After the Master is removed from the pot, the roots need to be trimmed. The dead roots, weak roots, and diseased roots can be cut off. Only the strong root system needs to be retained. After pruning the roots, soak them in potassium permanganate solution and disinfect them. Then place the Master plant in a ventilated and cool place, and it can be potted after the wound is dry.

3. Put it in the basin

Succulent plants like soil with good air permeability. To prepare suitable soil, apply some decomposed soil as base fertilizer in advance to improve the fertility of the soil. Then plant the roots of the plants in the soil, straighten them, and compact the soil slightly.

Things to note when repotting succulent plants

After repotting, the succulent plant should be kept in a well-ventilated and cool place. After 3-5 days, bright light can be provided. If the soil in the pot is dry, water it slowly around the edges of the pot. It will adapt to the pot in about 7 days. After that, the light can be gradually increased. If there is a lack of water, water it in time.
