When is the best time to repot the Jade Plant? What is the best time and method to repot?

Time to repot Jade Plant

The Jade Plant grows relatively fast, and its roots quickly cover the entire pot. If the pot is not changed, it will affect its normal growth. Generally speaking, the pot should be changed once a year. It is best to do this in early winter or early spring when the temperature is lower and bacteria are difficult to survive, making bacterial infection less likely. This will allow the roots of the Jade Plant to absorb nutrients and grow better after changing the pot.

How to repot Jade Plant

1. Remove the pot and change the soil

Stop watering the Jade Plant before removing it from the pot, so that it can be removed from the pot faster. Be sure to retain 1/3 of the soil above the roots to protect the roots from damage. Then mix the prepared leaf mold and garden soil in equal proportions and fill the pot.

2. Root pruning

After removing the Jade Plant from the pot, you can check the root system, trim off the old and residual roots to keep the roots healthy, then apply a solution of carbendazim to the cut for sterilization and disinfection, and place it in a cool place to wait for the wound to dry.

3. Potting and slowing down the roots

Put the treated Jade Plant back into the pot, compact the soil to allow the roots to closely combine with the soil, place it in a well-ventilated place for maintenance, and keep the potting soil well-permeable to speed up the roots' adaptation to the pot.

Things to note when repotting Jade Plants

1. After repotting the Jade Plant, do not water it immediately to avoid root rot. Generally, after 3 to 4 days in the pot, the roots will adapt to the new environment, then water it to soak the soil, keeping the soil slightly moist, and avoid water accumulation.

2. After repotting the Jade Plant, it needs to be cared for to grow slowly. Do not expose it to strong light. It is best to provide a temperature of 15-25 degrees. No fertilizer is needed. After 15-20 days, the Jade Plant's growth period will be over and normal care can be carried out.
