Pea Planting TimeThe sowing time of peas is different in different regions. In areas north of the Yangtze River, it is mostly spring sowing, usually in March and April, and can be harvested in July and August. In areas south of the Yangtze River, it is autumn sowing, sowing in October and November, and harvesting in April and May of the following year. How to grow peas1. Site selection and leveling The first thing to do when planting peas is to choose a good place. Because the root system of this plant is very developed and it is drought-resistant but not water-resistant, it must be planted in a dry environment. Deep, well-drained soil can also prevent the roots from being flooded, which is very helpful for its breathing. In addition, whether the soil is fertile is also crucial to the development of the plant. 2. Seed soaking and germination Peas need to be germinated before sowing. First, soak the seeds in 40% salt water, remove the shriveled or insect-damaged seeds, then wash the remaining seeds with clean water and wrap them with gauze. Spray water every day to increase humidity. After the seeds turn white, you can open the gauze and place them in an environment of 2°C. They will germinate in about 15 days. 3. Sowing Generally, peas are sown using the spot sowing method, with 2-6 seeds sown in each hole, with a spacing of 10-20 cm between holes. After sowing, cover with 5-6 cm thick soil. If the climate is dry, the soil can be thicker. When the seedlings grow to 8-10 cm in height and have 2-4 leaves, they can be transplanted. Pea planting precautionsAfter planting peas, if the temperature is low, you can cover them with a film to keep them warm and moist. Generally, the seeds will germinate after waiting for about 2 to 3 days. Then remove the film and water them. It is important to note that the growth temperature should not be too high, about 20 degrees is enough. In the later maintenance, water and fertilizer management should be done well, and pests and diseases should be prevented and controlled, and weeds should be removed to ensure vigorous growth. |
