The seeds of Chinese yam are difficult to germinate, and its growth cycle takes about 1-2 years. It is usually harvested and put on the market in October. It can be planted in all parts of my country, but the temperature and planting time are different in different places, so there will be some differences in the harvest time.

Yam Origin

Yams are mainly distributed in countries such as North Korea, China and Japan. The main producing areas in my country are Henan, Jiangsu, Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang and Taiwan. It is mainly divided into two varieties: early-maturing and late-maturing. Early-maturing ones are generally harvested and put on the market in August-September, while late-maturing ones are harvested and put on the market after October.

Yam planting time and key points

1. Planting time: Yam is generally planted in spring. As long as the temperature is stable above 10 degrees, it can be planted. Planting should be done when the weather is relatively clear.

2. Site selection and land preparation: Yam needs to be planted in sandy soil with flat terrain, deep soil layer, air permeability and drainage. After selecting the land, deep plowing is required, and sufficient base fertilizer will be applied after leveling.

3. Sowing: After preparing the land, you can put the yam seeds into the soil, then cover it with a 3 cm thick layer of soil, and water it appropriately to keep it moist.
