Cutting time of bamboo begonia

Bamboo Begonia can be propagated by cuttings at any time of the year, but its survival rate will be higher if it is propagated in mid-June and July. This is mainly because the temperature is more suitable and the air humidity is higher at this time. This is also the peak growth period of Bamboo Begonia, so the survival rate of cuttings will be higher.

Cutting method of bamboo begonia

1. Choose branches : Choose strong, pest-free branches of the bamboo begonia, about 13-15 cm in length. There should be 2-3 leaves and some buds on the upper part of the branch. All leaves at the lower end should be removed, and the cut part of the branch should be an inclined surface.

2. Prepare the soil : Generally, fresh and clean vermiculite is chosen because it can inhibit bacteria and is very moisturizing and breathable. If vermiculite is not used, rough river sand can also be used.

3. Prepare for cuttings : Dip the cut end of the treated branch in a little rooting powder, and then insert the branch into the culture soil 5 cm deep.

Precautions for cuttings of bamboo begonia

After the bamboo begonia is cut, it must be placed in a cool and ventilated place. The humidity of the cultivation environment must be sufficient. The temperature is generally maintained between 20℃-24℃. Spray water once every day between 12-14 noon. If the climate and environment are suitable and the maintenance is proper, it will take root in about half a month. After one month of rooting, it can be moved to a pot for planting.
