How to grow money tree

How to grow money tree

Money tree originally grows in South Africa. It likes a cool, dry, well-lit and ventilated environment. It can tolerate partial shade but not waterlogging. It will enter a dormant period during the high temperatures of summer. It is a "winter type" among succulents. Money tree can bloom to the fullest in three months.

1. Soil requirements

Money tree has a strong growth ability. If you want it to bloom out of the pot, you need to provide fertile, loose, well-drained soil. You can use leaf mold, garden soil, coarse sand, and vermiculite to mix and make nutrient soil. You can add a small amount of base fertilizer to the mixed soil to promote the growth of the money tree root system.

2. Reasonable fertilization

Reasonable fertilization is an important factor in the growth of Money String. Fertilization should be done in mild and comfortable seasons. No fertilization should be done in summer. Apply a thin, well-rotted organic fertilizer liquid once every half a month during the growing season. Do not use human and animal feces directly for fertilizer. Stop fertilizing when it enters the dormant period in winter.

3. Watering to keep moist

Money tree likes to grow in a moist soil environment, so when caring for it, you must keep the soil moist and water it when it is dry. Generally speaking, you can water it 3 to 4 times a week. If the soil in the pot is well moist, avoid excessive watering to cause water accumulation.

4. Disease prevention

The biggest disease of money tree during its growth and development is gray mold. When the disease occurs, large areas of gray-black spots will appear on its leaves. In the early stage of the disease, we need to spray carbendazim or methyl tolbutrin on the leaves. The specific spraying concentration can be used according to the instructions.

Money string maintenance precautions

Since money plant likes to grow in a cool climate, when watering in low weather, use water close to room temperature. Remember not to use water that is too cold or too hot to avoid root rot. In summer, spray water mist on the leaves frequently to keep them clean.
