When to plant fennel bulbs

Bulb fennel is grown in many areas of my country. They like to grow in an environment with sufficient sunlight and a cool but not hot climate. They are both cold-resistant and drought-resistant. Therefore, they can be sown in spring or autumn. If the climate is suitable, the growth rate will be very fast. They can usually be harvested about two months after sowing.

Fennel bulb planting methods and key points

1. Spring sowing

If bulb fennel is sown in spring, it is usually sown from February to May, so that it can be harvested from mid-May to June. The general practice is to interplant fennel. Due to its short growing period, fennel seeds can be sown in wide rows after sowing crops with narrow mulch in spring.

Of course, when sowing in spring, you need to pay attention to the corresponding field management, focus on increasing temperature, and take corresponding insulation measures. If it rains before the seedlings emerge, you must harrow the land in time to break up the compaction so that the seedlings can grow smoothly. When the bulb fennel grows to 20-30 cm, it can be harvested.

2. Autumn sowing

Bulb fennel can also be planted in autumn from July to September. It can usually be harvested in September to October. The planting method is also very simple. Fennel seeds should be germinated before planting. Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours, then dry them, put them on a wet cloth, control the temperature at 15-25℃, and wait for them to sprout.

Fennel bulb planting precautions

During the growth period of bulb fennel, it should be watered at irregular intervals, generally once every 3-5 days, so that its growth rate is relatively fast. The actual frequency of watering should be based on the moisture level of the soil. If it is cloudy or rainy, you can wait a few more days.
