Jade cutting time and method

Jade cutting time and method

Jade cutting time

When taking cuttings for jadeite, it is best to choose the summer as the temperature and humidity are very suitable. It is also the growth and development period of jadeite, which is conducive to its growth. Other times are also possible, but the temperature must be kept good. It is best to do it indoors in the cold winter.

Jade cutting method

1. Prepare branches

Cut branches from jade plants that are in good growth condition, make them as strong and full as possible, keep 1-2 leaves on the top, and remove the ones below. The length should be about 5 cm. This will not cause rot and is conducive to later rooting.

2. Prepare the substrate

Jade can be planted on a breathable and well-drained substrate so that water will not accumulate. Pure vermiculite or perlite can be used. Be careful not to use it directly. Expose it in the sun for disinfection before use.

3. Take cuttings

Insert the branches into the prepared sand bed, spray water on them to keep them moist, and ensure good surrounding temperature and humidity. It will take about 15-30 days for the branches to take root, and they can be potted when they have several leaves.

Maintenance of Jasper Cuttings

After the jadeite is grafted, it should not be exposed to sunlight immediately. It should be shaded in spring, summer and autumn. Jadeite has poor cold resistance, so when the temperature gradually drops in late autumn, it should be placed indoors for maintenance, otherwise it will easily suffer from frost damage.
