Bean planting and harvesting time

Bean planting and harvesting time

Bean planting time

There are two sowing times for beans, mainly in spring from February to March, and can also be sown in summer from May to August. However, because beans are not cold-resistant, it is best not to plant them in winter, otherwise they are prone to frost damage.

Bean harvest time

The planting time of beans is different, so the harvest time is also different. If they are cultivated in spring from February to March, they can be harvested from June to August. If they are cultivated in summer and autumn, they are sown from May to early August and harvested from July to October.

Key points for high-yield planting of beans

1. Seed germination

Before sowing, beans must be germinated and placed in a warm environment to ensure their germination rate. Therefore, if planted in spring, it is best to do so in a greenhouse, which will not affect their germination.

2. Tillage the soil

Plow the fertile and loose soil and mix in a certain amount of organic fertilizer to improve soil fertility. If the crops have just been harvested, then the dead branches, leaves and old roots in the field must be removed, as these will become obstacles to the growth of beans.

3. Watering

When the beans start to grow, do not water them frequently, otherwise it will affect the growth of the root system and cause the plants to grow too tall. If you water them too much before they sprout, it will affect the survival rate.

4. Topdressing

There is no need to apply top dressing in the early stage of bean growth, but you can apply it after flowering and podding. At this time, the growth is vigorous and the demand for fertilizer is great. In addition, after each batch is picked, a certain amount of fertilizer must be added. You can apply decomposed organic fertilizer and then use phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer in combination.
