Asparagus Planting Time

Asparagus is planted in spring from April to May, but if it is grown in a greenhouse, it can also be planted in summer from August to September and can be harvested in the spring of the second year. The yield in the first few years will be higher every year. Its peak yield period is between the fourth and tenth years of planting.

Asparagus planting methods and key points

1. Seedling cultivation

When planting asparagus, choose a higher terrain with loose and fertile sandy soil for sowing. Cover with fine soil after sowing, and then set up a small shed. Before emergence, the temperature should be controlled at around 25 degrees during the day and not lower than 12 degrees at night. When the seedlings emerge, remove the plastic film and gradually ventilate.

2. Planting

When planting asparagus, you must carefully select the cultivation site. There should be no pollution sources within 3 kilometers around it. The irrigation water should be clean. Choose sandy soil with a low groundwater level. Planting should be carried out from the first half of May to the first half of June. Before planting, you must first turn over and deep plow the soil, and dig trenches for planting. After the seedlings have developed stably, gradually fill in the planting trenches in batches.

Asparagus Planting Tips

When planting asparagus, the soil needs to be weeded frequently, and the soil should be loosened and cultivated in time according to the damage caused by weeds to eliminate weeds. During the growth period, if the climate is dry, water should be irrigated in time to prevent drought, and drainage should be timely during the flood season or after heavy rain.
