How many days does it take for green beans to germinate? Seeding time and germination temperature

How long does it take for green beans to germinate?

Green beans have the effect of cooling down and refreshing the palate. They are one of the most common vegetables in the vegetable garden and are usually sown in spring from February to April and in autumn from August to September.

The best temperature for green bean seeds to germinate is 25-30℃. High-quality, full-textured green bean seeds can germinate 3-4 days after sowing under suitable temperature and humidity conditions. When the temperature is lower, the germination time will be longer, at 7-10 days.

Green bean germination time

Green beans are best planted in deep, loose, humus-rich soil. At a temperature of 20-30℃, green bean seeds will germinate about 6-10 days after sowing. Green beans will not germinate if the temperature is below 10℃ or above 40℃.

Management of green beans after emergence

1. Green beans are short-day plants with well-developed root systems. They are relatively drought-resistant but not water-resistant. Therefore, during the seedling period of green beans, you can spray them in small amounts. Remember not to flood them to prevent the water temperature from being too low, thereby lowering the ground temperature and causing root rot or disease in the seedlings, which is not conducive to growth and development.

2. During the growth period of the green bean seedlings, support structures need to be erected to facilitate climbing. There should be some branches on the top of the support structures. In this way, the green bean seedlings will grow denser and have more branches. The light they receive will be more sufficient and evenly distributed, and they will naturally produce more pods.
