Chives can be sown and raised in autumn or in spring. Choose a plot of land that has not been planted with onions and garlic in 3-4 years, till the land, prepare the seedbed, and plant it in early June to early July. After a good maintenance, you can wait for the harvest.

Leek growth cycle

Leek is a perennial vegetable, which generally takes 3 to 5 years, and some take as long as 8 to 10 years. During this period, it will go through three important periods: germination period, seedling period, and vigorous growth period. The germination period is the stage from seed germination to the growth of the first true leaf of the young shoot, the seedling period is from the first true leaf to the ability to divide, and the vigorous growth period begins from the ability to divide.

Methods and steps for growing chives

1. Sowing:

Chives can be sown continuously from autumn to the spring of the following year, and can be harvested in about 20 days under suitable temperature conditions. The temperature in the cultivation room should be kept at around 25 degrees, water should be sprayed evenly 2-3 times a day, and attention should be paid to frequent ventilation.

2. Later maintenance:

After the leeks are planted, you can keep them in good sunlight to provide sufficient light time for the garlic seedlings to promote their growth as quickly as possible. Water them regularly to keep the soil moist, and apply liquid fertilizer appropriately. When the leeks grow tall, you can harvest them.
