Yield of fruit corn per mu

In the south, if planted carefully, the maximum yield of fruit corn per mu can reach more than 900 kilograms. However, if fruit corn is planted on a large scale, the cultivation investment is not high and the management is not meticulous, the average yield per mu is about 650 kilograms.

Fruit corn planting prospects

One acre of land can plant 4,000 fruit corns. Even if calculated based on the minimum recycling price of 0.5 yuan per root, the income of one acre of land can be as high as about 2,000 yuan. After deducting various planting costs, one acre of land can have a net profit of 1,200 to 1,500 yuan.

Fruit corn has a short growth cycle and is rich in nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, cellulose, etc. Its market price is 2-3 times that of ordinary corn. Therefore, the planting prospects of fruit corn are still very good.

How to grow fruit corn to get high yield

1. Planting time

The best time to plant fruit corn is from March to April each year. The seedling age is about 20 days and it will mature in early July each year. If a greenhouse is used for warmth, it can be sown in February in early spring. Fruit corn can be planted twice a year, which is conducive to increasing yield.

2. Germination treatment

When planting fruit corn, you need to soak the seeds in warm water at 25-28 degrees for 4-5 hours to allow them to absorb enough water. Then wrap the fruit corn seeds with a towel and place them in an insulated box at 32-34 degrees. After waiting for 30-36 hours, the fruit corn will turn white.

3. Seedling cultivation method

Fruit corn is difficult to germinate and needs to be grown in nutrient pots. You can apply decomposed farmyard manure to the seedbed to increase the organic matter content in the soil, then put it into the nutrient pots, and then sprinkle 1-2 seeds in each nutrient pot. Wait for the corn to grow 2-3 true leaves before transplanting.

4. Breeding methods

When growing fruit corn, you need to use ground film to cover the soil to increase the soil temperature. Fertilization should be mainly based on base fertilizer. Water should be poured once after topdressing during the growth period. The field should be drained of accumulated water in time. During the growing period, attention should be paid to the prevention and control of diseases and pests such as bacterial wilt, large and small leaf spot, and corn borer.
