A quick rooting method for cuttings of Prunus armeniaca

A quick rooting method for cuttings of Prunus armeniaca

If you want the cuttings of Prunus armeniaca to take root faster, you should do it in late spring or early autumn. There are no high requirements for the substrate, and medium-coarse river sand can be used. Choose strong branches, and after processing the branches, insert them directly into the substrate. If you take good care of them, they will take root quickly.

1. Cutting time

If you want the cuttings of Prunus armeniaca to take root faster, you should do it in late spring or early autumn. The climate and temperature at this time are more suitable, and the plants are also in the growth stage, so they will sprout and take root faster. Note that you should avoid the high temperatures in summer and winter as soon as possible, as they will take root slowly and are not easy to survive.

2. Cutting medium

Prunus armeniaca has a wide adaptability to soil and does not have high requirements for the substrate when cutting. Medium-coarse river sand will do. Note that it must be disinfected first to ensure that there are no pathogens or pests, so as to speed up the rooting process.

3. Take cuttings

Choose branches grown in the current year of Prunus armeniaca, so that the branches have stronger germination ability, and are guaranteed to be strong and free of diseases and pests. The length of the cuttings should be 10-15 cm, and each section should have more than three leaf nodes. In addition, the bottom of the branch should be cut into an oblique end and soaked in rooting solution for a while to promote faster rooting.

4. Take cuttings

It is very simple to propagate Prunus armeniaca by cuttings. Just insert the processed cuttings straight into the substrate. After insertion, compact the soil around the cuttings appropriately and water them thoroughly. The ambient temperature should be controlled between 20-30 degrees. Provide appropriate shading, spray water frequently to keep moisture, and keep the humidity between 75%-85%. It will soon take root.
