What is the appropriate row spacing and plant spacing for spinach planting?

Spinach planting spacing

Planting spinach is very simple. You can use the post-watering furrow sowing method. The best sowing depth is 1 cm, the row spacing is 20 cm , and the plant spacing is 5 cm . You only need to water once after sowing to make the ground thoroughly.

You can also choose row sowing, in which case the best row spacing is 25 cm and the plant spacing is about 6 cm. You can also use broadcast sowing, which is relatively simple because the plant spacing can be flexibly controlled.

Spinach yield per mu

1. The yield varies according to the planting location:

Growing in a greenhouse will produce about 1,000 to 2,500 kilograms, growing in a cold greenhouse will produce about 1,000 to 2,000 kilograms, and the yield per mu of spinach grown in protected areas or in the open air is slightly lower, generally around 500 to 1,500 kilograms, while summer planting will only produce about 200 to 500 kilograms.

2. The yield varies according to the variety:

The best yield per mu is autumn spinach, which can produce 3,000-4,000 kilograms per mu, and can reach a maximum of 5,000 kilograms. The yield of overwintering spinach, spring spinach and summer spinach is not that high, and the average yield per mu can reach about 1,000 to 2,000 kilograms.

Spinach Harvest Time

Different spinach varieties have different harvest seasons. Spring spinach is planted in early spring when the temperature begins to rise slowly, and it matures from April to May. Generally, summer spinach is sown from May to July and matures from late June to mid-September. Autumn spinach is sown from August to September and matures from September to October. Winter spinach is sown from mid-October to early November and matures around the Spring Festival.
