How to plant Clivia? Cultivation methods and steps for newly bought Clivia

The leaves of Clivia are emerald green and look very beautiful. It is relatively easy to grow, but various problems may arise if it is not properly maintained. For example, some plants do not bloom but grow many leaves. To grow Clivia well, you need to choose suitable potting soil and provide a warm growing environment.

Clivia planting method

1. Selection of potting soil

When cultivating Clivia, it is best to choose a clay pot, because this type of pot has better air permeability. The soil can be leaf mold, peat soil, and of course sawdust. Before planting, both the pot and the soil need to be disinfected.

2. Seed treatment

Soak the plump and healthy seeds in warm water for half an hour, then take them out and soak them in a 10% sodium phosphate solution for 20 minutes. After the time is up, wash the seeds and soak them in clean water for about 13 hours.

3. Cultivation

When planting Clivia, pay attention to the density. It is not advisable to plant too densely. The small holes of the seeds should face downwards. After planting, cover them with a layer of flower soil and spray some water. Spray the soil thoroughly and they will germinate soon.

Points to note when planting Clivia

After the Clivia is cultivated, place the pot in a well-ventilated environment, keep the temperature between 20 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, and the air humidity at around 90%. With proper maintenance, the seeds will germinate in half a month.

Pay attention to watering the Clivia moderately, and water it thoroughly each time. However, the soil in the pot cannot be too dry or too wet. After the Clivia buds, water it more. Every 20 days, apply fermented bean cake water to the Clivia. Watering and fertilizing should be combined.
