Star anise seed germination method and steps How to grow star anise seeds

Star anise seeds are oily and have thick seed coats. In order to ensure that the seeds can germinate and emerge as soon as possible after sowing, it is best to germinate the seeds before sowing, especially in areas where there is cold weather in January and February and the sowing period is later.

Star anise seed germination time

Generally, in frost-free areas, star anise is suitable for sowing from December to January of the following year, while in frost-prone areas, it should be sown in February or March when the temperature rises above 12°C. Star anise seeds are generally germinated a few days before planting. Germinated seeds generally germinate in about a week, while ungerminated seeds generally take about 15 days to germinate.

Star anise seed germination technology

The wet sand germination method often used for star anise seeds is the wet sand germination method, which is to evenly mix the star anise seeds and fine river sand in a ratio of 1:10.

Then wet the seeds evenly with an appropriate amount of clean water, and wait until the moisture is enough to form sand into a ball that will open up when you let go. Then put the seeds and fine sand in a container to keep them warm and moist. The germination effect has been achieved. When more than 60% of the seeds turn white, they can be sown.
