If you want to grow potted aloe well, changing the soil is very important, because aloe grows relatively fast, and the root base is easy to grow side shoots, which can be transplanted to a new pot for reproduction. If the potting soil is not suitable, it is easy to cause problems such as aloe root rot and leaf shriveling. We can change the pot according to the growth of the aloe plant, preferably every 1 to 2 years, and it is suitable to change the soil in the warm spring and autumn .

Aloe vera soil changing method

You can choose a mixture of peat soil and river sand. The flowerpot needs to be air-permeable. The new pot should be larger than the previous one. Do not water before changing the soil. Keep the soil in the pot relatively dry. You can loosen the soil slightly and use a shovel to draw a circle around the flowerpot. This will make it easier for the plant roots to be removed from the pot. Be slow and careful when removing the pot to prevent damage to the roots.

When removing the plant from the pot, you can use a screwdriver to knock on the edge of the pot and gently clean the soil on the roots. At the same time, check whether the roots are rotten. If there are rotten roots and yellow leaves, they need to be trimmed. If there are insect eggs, they need to be soaked with insecticide. After the treatment, put the plant in a shaded and ventilated place to dry for 1 to 2 days.

Aloe Vera soil replacement precautions

You can apply a layer of base fertilizer to the bottom pot, water it once after changing the soil. If the pot soil is not dry, you can sprinkle a small amount of water on the plant. If the soil is dry, you need to water it thoroughly once, and there should be no water accumulation. You can also apply a little rooting liquid after watering. Then put it in a cool environment without light, and let it grow slowly for about a week, and then you can take normal maintenance measures such as supplementing light and fertilizing.
